Sat, May 9

Berkman (wrist) experienced pain during batting practice prior to Saturday's game and was held out of the lineup for the second straight day, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Recommendation: Darin Erstad took another spot start in Berkman's place. If he doesn't feel improvement before Sunday's rubber game, Berkman may opt to have a cortisone shot on the Astros' scheduled day off Monday.

Sat, May 9

1B Lance Berkman was scratched Friday, and didn't find out until game time. "I have not spoken with anybody," manager Cecil Cooper said. "Normally that's what I do. I talk to guys before I change the lineup and move them around, but today I just decided not to do it. I'm just going to post it and play."

Fri, May 8

Berkman was a late scratch Friday against the Padres due to a sore left wrist, the Associated Press reports.

Recommendation: The Astros didn't say whether the wrist soreness has been a problem all season, which could help explain Berkman's .184 average. Darin Erstad replaced him in the lineup.

Can anyone provide any information on this mysterious wrist injury? Is it a bone bruise, ligament, etc.?

This is why I hate weekly lineups! Late Sunday and all day Monday they said he was Questionable then all of a sudden he gets in the lineup Tuesday and then has a nice game on Wed. Why can't each position lock individually like in Fantasy Football, instead of the whole team locking at the same time?
