Zimmerman for BJ Upton WHIR

Postby Nitrayn » Sat May 09, 2009 7:17 pm

Alright here is my 5x5 H2H lineup

c- baker(Posada on DL)
1B - Votto
2B Kendrick
3B Wright
SS Jeter
INF Longoria
OF Ellsbury
OF Beltran
OF Crawford
UTIL Zimmerman
BN Furcal

As You can see, I have 3 premier 3Bmen, and some teams in my league are hurting there. I thought I could upgrade at 2B or SS...but havent got any good bites. I currently am trying to get Soriano from a guy for Zimmerman...and a guy in my league offered me BJ Upton for him. I'd prefer Soriano...but should I settle for Upton?

i'd like a 4th OF because if one of my guys goes down, even day to day..I have no one to plug in...I cant justify dropping Furcal/Jeter for one on the FA list...and my pitching is all solid, no one I could drop without regret.

Any thoughts?

I'd hold on to Zimmerman. The only way this trade makes sense is if Upton rights the ship. I don't see him as being much more than a .260 hitter with some power and speed. Let someone else take their lumps with BJ.
I never smile if I can help it.... Showing one's teeth is a submission signal in primates. When someone smiles at me, all I see is a chimpanzee begging for its life.

Wouldn't do it .... I think you can command more for a Zimmerman, especially since you have 3 great 3rd basemen. My reasoning is this ..... you have tons of speed. You don't need Upton. Personally, I don't think he's going to hit 20 HR's or anything this year, either. If you're that big on him, then its a fair deal ... I just think Upton doesn't coincide with your teams needs.

Help me out man???

Not sure you are gonna be able to do better than Upton; the list is mighty small for who can be traded for Zimm straight up IMO. I would say to target the team's best OF that has Aramis Ramirez and see what you can get out of that (if that team happens to have Soriano, even better).

Thanks for your reply in my post.
