Teixeira/Howard Blockbuster trade help WHIR

Postby rmenaul » Sat May 09, 2009 5:23 pm

The trade offer is this:
I get Teixeira, Chipper Jones, Spilborgs, George Sherill
I give: Howard, Aramis Ramirez, Joe Nathan, Scott Rolen

My team:
C: Iannetta
1b: Ryan Howard
2b: Jose Lopez
3b: Aramis Ramirez (DL)
SS: Steven Drew (DL) sub: M. Aviles
OF: Beltran
OF: Bay
OF: Ethier
UTIL: Beltre
sub: J Guillen, Rolen

SP: F. Hernandez
SP: Y. Gallardo
RP: J. Nathan
RP:T. Percival
P: M. Lindstrom
P: Biemel
P: M. Garza
Bench: S. Baker, T. Hanson, Jimenez

Don't think I would do it if Aram was healthy, but I Don't think Beltre or Rolen are viable long term 3rd base options... thoughts? point me to your threads.

I wouldn't do this. I've never been a Howard guy, but his power is for real, and if this is a standard 5x5 league, you'll be fine taking the bad BA for the power and RBI's. Yes Aramis Ramirez is hurt, and that sucks, but as soon as you deal him, you'll get the pleasure of dealing with the oft injured Chipper, no thanks. The back end of the deal is what most sells me on holding, George Sherrill is terrible, and isn't even worth owning IMO because he's in a committee situation and his ratios are terrible, and not worth owning for sporadic at best save ops. Nathan is a stud closer, and Spilgboroughs in return for Rolen is a wash I think. Rolen should be able to hold 3B down until Aramis gets back. I'd sit tight. If you don't mind, I could use some help with mine. Thanks in advance.
