Advice on who to drop...WHIR

Postby 910BronxBomber » Sat May 09, 2009 4:14 pm

Ok, I recently came across a problem. I can't figure out who to drop as I need to activate a DL spot. The choices are between Juan Pierre, Matt Laporta and Andrew Bailey.

The league is a dynasty league, and scoring is as follows: average, walks, homers, xbhs, stolen bases, runs, rbis, strikeouts, wins, saves, holds, WHIP, K/9, and ERA.

Do I play the stolen bases and average card of juan pierre in manny's absence, keep the future of Laporta, or do i keep the holds/wins/saves that bailey offers?

My bullpin looks like this:
Mariana Rivera
Joakim Soria
Heath Bell
Carlos Marmol

Please leave a link, and I will help you out ASAP.

Cheers,

In this case, I'd drop Pierre. All those extra categories you have hurts Pierre's value even more as compared to a normal 5x5 league (Pierre wont be getting very many XBH or walks, on top of not getting many HR or RBI to begin with).

Hit the nail on the head. Keep LaPorta in a dynasty and Bailey needs to slow down a little before I drop him. Pierre has less value with those categories.

I would definitely cut ties with Pierre. He's a short term serviceable player. As others have said, the deeper scoring definitely further diminishes his value. That said, if you have time, I'd try to package him with another player for a very minor upgrade somewhere if possible. I always hate cutting ownable players, so anytime I can make a 2 for 1, even if it looks like I'm taking the "worst" of it, as long as I'm making a slight upgrade as opposed to outright dropping a player, that's the way to go. Besides, by dealing him, you'd be able to dictate where he ends up (as opposed to cutting him and finding him on a team that you'd rather not see him on). All things considered, assuming you can't pull a deal off, cut Pierre, and don't give it a second though. Good luck. If you don't mind, I could use some help with mine. Thanks in advance.

All for Pierre the guy isn't what he used to be, and Laporta is to valuable in Dynasty.

Don't even think about dropping LaPorta in a dynasty league. It comes to Bailey or Pierre. I'd agree with the other posters. As long as holds and K/9 are categories, I think Bailey is more valueable than the SB's from Pierre.

I'd go with Pierre, but i wouldn't expect to get too much from laporta until later in the summer with Dellucci on the team!
