Big Trade (Crawford, Roberts, and DUnn involved). WHIR 100%

Postby blove523 » Sat May 09, 2009 9:43 am

I have been in talks with this guy for about a week to acquire Crawford. He's really interested in a few of my players. I am currently sitting in 1st place, up 9.5 games. I'd like to make a deal with him because I like Crawford's speed, but I don't want to give up too much. I got lucky also with getting Holliday. I had the 1st waiver priority and got him two days ago. Does this deal improve my team that much? Do I even need to do it? Maybe there are other guys on his roster I should target besides Sandoval.

I give up:
Brian Roberts
Adam Dunn
Roy Oswalt
Matt Lindstrom

I receive:
Carl Crawford
Pablo Sandoval
Justin Verlander
Mariano Rivera

My Roster:
C: Rod Barajas
1B: Albert Pujols
2B: Brian Roberts
SS: Hanley Ramirez
3B: Mark DeRosa
OF: Nick Markakis
OF: Matt Holliday
OF: Matt Kemp
UTIL: Adrian Gonzalez
UTIL: Aaron Hill
B: Adam Dunn
B: Adam Lind

SP: Tim Lincecum
SP: Roy Oswalt
RP: Heath Bell
RP: Matt Lindstrom
P: Matt Garza
P: Adam Wainwright
P: Erik Bedard
B: Francisco Liriano
B: Yovanni Gallardo
B: Kevin Slowey
DL: Chris Carpenter

His roster:
C: Mike Napoli
1B: Prince Fielder
2B: Howie Kendrick
SS: Ryan Theroit
3B: David Wright
OF: Carl Crawford
OF: Curtis Granderson
OF: Pat Burrell
UTIL: Ichiro
UTIL: Jacoby Ellsbury
B: Rafael Furcal
B: Pablo Sandoval
B: Adrian Beltre
B: BJ Upton
B: Justin Upton

SP: Zach Grienke
SP: Javier Vazquez
RP: Mariano Rivera
RP: Max Scherzer
P: Aaron Harang
P: Justin Verlander
P: Joba Chamberlain

I'd stay put. Brian roberts is going to get you quite a few steals from a tough position as is. Maybe you can get an Of from the waiver wire like Fowler to snag you a few steals without having to pay such a price. And in the rst of the deal it seems that youre downgrading quite i bit. i don't like this deal for you at all.

help with mine!

Do you think the offer could be simplified or modified to be something more beneficial to me? I was thinking of maybe making it different. What about this?

I give:
Dunn
Oswalt
Lind

I get:
Crawford
Verlander
Sandoval

That would be a sweet sweet deal for you, especially with Verlander's three consecutive gems pitched. It's worth a try, but don't count on having it accepted.

Do you think I should switch Roberts instead of Lind if this trade doesn't work or is that giving up too much?

Are there any other trades you possibly see? Maybe a buy-low opportunity with BJ Upton. I definitely want Crawford though. He's one of my favorite players. I don't mind trading Roberts because I have Hill waiting in the wings to take his spot. Any advice would be awesome.

I don't know why people aren't crazy about the first offer. I think the first offer you have in mind is better then the other. Sure, B-Rob is a stud at 2B, but Aaron Hill is a more then capable stand in (check out his '07 stats, and given his start, I have no doubt he'll build on that season). Barajas is terrible at C and the upgrade to Pablo Sandoval seems to be getting overlooked, being able to cut Barajas for anything on the waiver wire is a big thing to keep in mind. I would rather have Verlander then Oswalt for the remainder of the year. I wouldn't have thought so coming into the season, but Verlander's K-rate and velocity are great, he's capable of putting up similar ratios while striking out a TON more hitters. Dunn is rotting on your bench, and as long as Crawford keeps getting on base, his speed will be more valuable to your team then Dunn's power (his batting average will drop significantly as well). Finally, Lindstrom is a candidate to eventually lose his closer gig if he has messy outtings, Mo is a stud closer and in no danger of ever losing his job, sure he had a messy outting against the Rays, but he's still Mo, and no reason for concern. All in all I think that deal is a must do for you, and cut Barajas for any 3B on the wire (even if it's an injury risk guy like Blalock, or a young upside guy like Andy LaRoche) because Derosa is a very weak 3B. Good luck. If you don't mind, I could use some help with mine. Thanks in advance.

If Sandoval qualifies at C, you want him in the deal. Tell him you want Sandoval included in the deal. You don't need Upton.

good luck
