Injuries hurting me.....what to do? WHIR 100%

Postby Carnac » Sat May 09, 2009 3:01 am

Injuries and Roids putting the pinch on me. 5x5 H2H standard scoring catagories, keeper (keep 3, but not from first 3 rounds of draft)

My team

1B Pujols
2B Kinsler
3B Aram
SS A. Cabrera
OF Markakis, Dye, J. Upton, Damon
B C. Davis, Manny
DL S. Drew

SP Shields, Nolasco, Wainwright, Lilly, Weaver, Gallaraga
RP Soria, Francisco, Gregg, Ray
DL Smoltz

With Manny and now Aram going down, I feel like I might have to make a move here soon.

Available on WW are Atkins, Blalock, Alexi (just dropped) and Felipe Lopez. Should I drop anyone to pick one of these guys up or just use what I have?

I can plug Davis in at 3B and put Damon at utility and get by with that lineup for awhile. I am in second place and don't feel in danger of missing playoffs. Do you see anyone I should drop to pick up either Alexi (temp. benched) or Felipe (nice position eligibility). Or should I just go with my backup players and get through this.

thanks

I would definitely try and pick up Lopez. He should have good position eligibility at 3rd, 2nd, ss, and LF ... in my yahoo league anyways.

I'd also keep an eye on Alexei .... I know, he just benched, but I think its temporary and he is a typical slow starter.

I'd probably Drop Ray ... not sure if you really, really need him and I thought it was a closer by committee kind of a thing...

Also, you cant drop Manny or A - ram at this point .... maybe make a trade?

help me out?

I think you're sufficiently deep enough to stem the tide of the injuries. In fact, it's nice that you'll be able to start Damon. In that bandbox ballpark, he's going to be great this year. Still, I'd suggest picking the other A-Ram as I think he'll return to his last year's numbers. Atkins could make sense too, but I'm just not a big believer in Lopez. He's always given us useful hot streaks; seems to me that this is a just a proplonged one of those, which I doubt will continue for much longer.

How many DL spots do you have? Will you need to drop players to make this work? If so I don't really like Asdrubel. He's the guy to go.

Thanks for the help on mine.

How many teams in this league, and how many DL spots?

I agree with dropping Ray and picking up Alexi. With 3 closers already, I don't see the big need for you to speculate with Ray.

I'd definitely drop Ray and pick up Alexi. Remember what kind of April he had last year. HORRID! But the rest of the year was AWESOME. Grab him now while you still can.

I am not a big Alexi Ramirez fan, but I think he's worth owning and taking a shot on over probably Asdrubal Cabrera. Sure, he's hot, but his HR and SB potential is so limited, I think it would be well worth making a speculative add, especially since you'll have Stephen Drew coming back anyways. I'd also probably cut Ray, since the O's closer situation is a mess, and Gregg is already going to do some damage to your ratios while getting you some saves. Perhaps add Blalock for Ray while he's healthy, and let him help make up for the loss of Aramis. Good luck, I hope those thoughts help, I could use some help with mine if you don't mind, thanks in advance.

2 dl spots. Now with Aram on DL makes 3. So I have one on my bench or drop Smoltz, Aram or Drew(ss). Don't really want to drop any. Oh, just picked up Baker(SP, cleared waivers today) and dropped Cabrera. Have a waiver claim for Alexi and dropping Ray.

Do you think this is the way to go?
