Picking Up Xavier Paul

Postby Padres Fan » Fri May 08, 2009 1:02 pm

I was wondering if grabbing Paul would be a good idea, I know Pierre may get the most at bats early.

I have Josh Anderson and he has been doing okay, but I always liked paul in AA, I have seem him play the last couple seasons

I see Pierre getting the majority of the at bats (at least until he struggles) so I wouldn't rush into Paul. Keep an eye on him, in case he gets some playing time and hits in the majors like he has in AA and AAA, but I'd stick with Anderson for now - guaranteed R and SB and he's been hitting the ball pretty consistently.

Good luck.

Like Rance Mulliniks, I don't really see paul getting a lot of playing time.

If you really think about it, Pierre is very capable of replacing Manny. Yes, Manny has a lot more pop than Pierre, but Pierre is a big league hitter whom will hit for a solid average. Not to mention, Pierre still has speed and will steal bases and should score quite a few runs because of this.

All in all, I wouldn't pick up Paul unless he some how beat out Pierre in the Manny wannabe sweepstakes.

Cheers,
