I'd still draft Hanley #1 if I could do it over again though it was never a slam dunk picking him over Pujols.

Agreed. I do think Kinsler breaks into the top 5 for sure, even though most were saying that round 2 was early for him.

Speaking of which, what is the top 5 if drafted today?

Pujols
Kinsler
MCab
Hanley
Braun
?

Inge
Greinke
Branyan

Not sure what people are getting at by just listing guys who have started off the season hot.
4 of the 5 guys I listed were Top 7 or so to start the year anyway:

Pujols was a 1 or a 2 to start the year.
MCab was anywhere from 4-7.
Braun anywhere from a 5-8.
Don't think there's any doubt that Kinsler would be somewhere in the top 5.
Hanley was 1 or 2, so putting him at 4 isn't that big a deal.

I get the joke and all....just don't think it's applicable with the 5 I listed.

If he played a full season and didn't have health concerns, I think he would have been a first round lock heading into '09. If he stays healthy all year now, then he could be a top 5 guy heading in 2010.

I'm quite happy to have landed him in the early second round so far. :-D

No...ya....I got it.

Sometimes sacrasm comes with a point, (ie) I'm gonna drop Johan Santana for the SP flavor of the week. Thought that's what was being implied.

So anyone have a Top 5 they'd like to throw out there.

yeah, it had a point. Those guys are being way overvalued due to having hot starts.

Right...So then putting them in conjunction with me asking who the Top 5 would be now, kind of implies the same thing. No?
That's why I was saying it didn't seem applicable.

No worries.

Well the entire knock on Kinsler is he hasn't been able to stay healthy a full year so I'd have to see him finish the year healthy to put him in the top 5. If he gets hurt again this year then I can't see drafting him in the 1st round next year.

I never liked Reyes as high as he was taken so I could see MCab and Braun jumping over him but it is just too early to be worried about it. A good month from now and Wright is back in the top 5 as an example, hard to say how much of the Mets slow start is just a bad start and how much is the new park etc.

If Utley stays healthy, he reenters the top 7 or 8. In 2006 I remember struggling mightily to decide between him or ARod. Thankfully I went ARod.

Back to SSs, I drafted Drew and have been using a bunch of losers at the position since. Seems incredibly thin this year compared to years past. If I had to guess I'd say there's a SS who will finish in the top 10 who went nearly universally undrafted heading into this year. We'll just have to wait to see who that is. Maybe Callaspo, Bartlett? Maybe a guy like Brandon Wood if he gets a full time shot?

There's money to be made at the SS position via vigilant waiver wire activity this year IMHO.
