Help with a trade offer, dynasty league

Postby bobellis75 » Wed May 06, 2009 9:41 am

I'm loaded on young pitching with guys like Greinke, Billingsley, Felix Hernandez, Soria, etc.....My position players are solid for the most part with:

C - R. Martin, Napoli
1B - Pujols
2B - F. Sanchez
3B - D. Wright
SS - Tulo

But my OF is weak....someone offered me Beltran for Billingsley. THoughts? I generally value an everyday player more than a pitcher (especially a hitter of that caliber). However, Billingsley is younger and a dominant pitcher for several years to come...Beltran is 32 and how many years will I get out of him?

My current crop of outfielders: Hart, Taveras, Crisp, Magglio, Schafer, and Kendry Morales qualifies at 1B and OF. Also have McCutchen for the future.

Should I make a deal or hold out for guys like Maggs to heat up????

Update: He offered to throw in Masterson.

So Masterson/Beltran for Billingsley.

that's a tough one, but if your focus is for only this year then maybe it's worth the deal
i'd rather have soriano or quentin though

Well I'm not necessarily focusing on this year...but I WOULD like to win! However, not at the cost of screwing up the long term prospects of this team. I figure Beltran probably has a few more years left, although his steals will probably start to drop off.

Going to have to think this one over a bit....

Any other opinions??

If you think like that, then I really see this as an upgrade for your team. With your pitching you can afford to replace him with a lesser pitcher. Can a hot pitcher carry your pitching staff? to a small degree. Can a hot batter carry your offense. Yes.

One more update to this....

Another guy has shown interest in Billingsley and is talking about giving me Markakis for him.

So....in a dynasty - do you keep Billingsley? Or trade him for Beltran/Masterson....or trade him for Markakis?

Markakis is the better trade option, but I like the Beltran move also.
