Take Santana out at 100 pitches and don't put Putz in for the 8th. Why?

Santana was going to start the 8th, but they had a chance to score so they PH with Church.

As to why Putz didn't pitch the 8th...both he and K-Rod have thrown a lot of pitches lately and Manuel wanted to get them some rest if at all possible. Now here is the thing...with several lefties coming up in the 8th, he had the luxury of throwing Feliciano and resting Putz. Unfortunately, when you're up 1-0 against your arch rival, K-Rod is going to have to man up and throw for the 3rd straight day.

I'm also willing to bet if they are in a save situation tomorrow you will see Putz in the 9th and not K-Rod.
