Blockbuster: 4 for 3 trade, moving Abreu and Pena WHIR

H2H 5x5 League

C Bengie Molina
1B Adrian Gonzalez
2B Dustin Pedroia
3B Jorge Cantu
SS Jose Reyes
OF Adam Jones
OF Bobby Abreu
OF Carl Crawford
UTIL Nyjer Morgan
UTIL Johnny Damon
BN Endy Chavez

Pitchers are Johan Santana, James Shields, Ricky Romero (DL), Matt Cain, Kevin Slowey, Scott Baker, Edwin Jackson, Tim Wakefield, Matt Lindstrom, Johnathan Papelbon, Trevor Hoffman, and Scott Downs.

The trade would move Abreu, Shields, Hoffman, and Romero for his Carlos Pena, Victor Martinez, and Kerry Wood.

I think Shields is gonna see his numbers go south soon. It's hard to say what Romero would do. Hoffman is money, but he might be a worthy sacrifice. Abreu has a ton of steals, but I already have plenty of those. I think adding the power of Pena and Martinez might be worth it.

Help? Accept? Counter?

I think it's a tough one. I agree with trying to get some more Power numbers in your lineup. Kinda sucks that it's a 4 for 3. I guess you could drop Molina and try to get a FA pitcher. You won't miss Hoffman with Paps and Downs and Lindstrom also there.

I also disagree with you on Shields. I guess that's what makes it tough for me. Maybe counter offer and have him throw in a pitcher. But, I think it's a fair deal as is and definitely acceptable.

I really don't think you need Abreau with Reyes and Crawford. Got steals on lockdown! So I think I would pull the trigger here! I'm not sold on Shields going south, but if you're willing to sacrifice him then this trade should help you quite a bit!

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for your help!

Yours is tough. You could use the power, and can give up the speed. I would only do this trade, however, if you have a plan to replace your pitching depth. Like if you think you can trade for some, or be patient to pick some up. I think Shields will be money, he seems to have found his changeup again. It's not a trade I would make, but I sure wouldn't fault you for making it. You improve in every piece for your circumstances, and only hurt pitching depth. And decent hitting upgrades coul be worth it.

Well I always say you can matchup your pitching with 2 start pitchers and be successful in fantasy play 3 out of 4 times.

Post trade:
C V. martinez
1B Adrian Gonzalez
2B Dustin Pedroia
3B Jorge Cantu
SS Jose Reyes
OF Adam Jones
OF Johnny Damon
OF Carl Crawford
UTIL Pena
UTIL Johnny Damon
BN C Bengie Molina
BN OF Endy Chavez
BN OF Nyjer Morgan

#1: How does your pitching (STARTING LINEUP SLOTS with how many of these on the bench?)
Johan Santana, James Shields, Matt Cain, Kevin Slowey, Scott Baker, Edwin Jackson, Tim Wakefield

RP/P: Matt Lindstrom, Kerry Wood, Johnathan Papelbon, and Scott Downs.
DL - Ricky Romero

I would JUMP all over this deal. No matter what. I would try to package Molina and Baker/Slowey/Jackson for a power hitting OF or a stud starter.

Next, please post FAs. (across the board)
