Roberts, Peavy deal - WHIR

Postby dave knight » Tue May 05, 2009 9:23 pm

I give: Chris Davis, Brian Roberts
I get: Jake Peavy, Kelly Johnson, Jason Werth (If this is not good enough, must I ask for Adam Jones or Ludwick for Werth? But tell me if it is good enough as is.)

Good deal or no? I do need some consistent ERA and WHIP help. 1 year, deep 11 team roto.

Peavy is a top 5 pitcher easy when healthy, sounds good to me.

I'm nervous of Peavy home/road splits and the ongoing threat of being moved outside of Petco. Regardless of whether or not he gets traded, I don't think he finishes the season as top 5 pitcher.

I'm also nervous about Johnson's prospects (I traded him for Wang, then he went to waivers in a 10 teamer)

My opinion changes dramatically if Ludwick or Jones is added to the deal though :)
