Buying low on BJ upton

Postby Dimethod » Tue May 05, 2009 1:56 pm

I'm in a 11 team keeper league 5x5 scoring. BJ is not a keeper option in our league. I was thinking of offering Pence and one of my starting pitchers. I am leading in almost every pitching cat. so far. I need some help on the offensive side. A-Rod sounds like he will be back Friday.....maybe.

What do you think it would take to get this deal done?

My Roster:
C Russell Martin
1B Billy Butler
2B Felipe López
3B Chris Davis
SS Jimmy Rollins
OF Nelson Cruz
OF Jeremy Hermida
OF Hunter Pence

BN Justin Upton

DL Álex Rodríguez

SP Tim Lincecum
SP Edwin Jackson

RP Jonathan Broxton

P Frank Francisco
P Brad Ziegler
BN Chris Ray
BN Gil Meche
BN Yovani Gallardo
BN Brett Anderson
BN Francisco Liriano

if you are going to move pitching, id look to get a 2B if at all possible...your OF is solid enough without trying to get BJ...besides that, as a BJ Upton owner who is potentially moving him im not going to do so at much of a discount if i can avoid it because he has too much of a track record to not rebound to at least a second OF in his numbers

help please

A better 2B might be ideal, but I think you'll have to give up too much to get a true difference maker. Upton is a decent buy-low, but only if you are actually buying low. I would not give up Pence and one of your top-tier picthers--Lincecum, Gallardo, and even Lirinao. But if you can package Pence and any of the other pitchers, I'd go for it.
