Should I keep waiting for closers? (DRAFT HELP)

I agree with Madison and the other poster: Grab Mulder with your first pick.

I like the #2 and the #3 picks as well. But I doubt that Dotel will be there by the time your third pick is due in tonight's draft. May have to wait and see how the draft goes tonight before you grab Teixeira with your second pick.

I wouldn't be too hasty on grabbing a Catcher any time soon. More than likely there will be a few prospects available after the draft that will more than acommodate your need at the C spot. I wouldn't be surprised if 1B/C Jason Phillips and 1B/C Mathew LeCroy are sitting in free agency once your draft is complete. With 1B Sweeney currently nursing a sore back, either one of these two will also fill your need at the 1B slot should Sweeney have to miss any time with a nagging injury.

Just my .02 cents. ;-D Good luck!

Someone else got Mulder that I didn't think was looking for a pitcher.

I have 9th pick in that round and he went 1st pick.

should I just get Sidney Ponson, Contreras, or Zambrano instead?

HELP!

Yeah, tough break on Mulder there. He would have been a nice addition to your staff. At least you know you will have some competition in your league this year. Another team owner realized the mistake that he was still available and grabbed him nonetheless. :-/

Out of the three pitchers you mentioned, I like Carlos Zambrano the most for your next pick. Hopefully Dusty Baker won't repeat last year and attempt to reduce all of his starting pitcher's arms to spaghetti by the end of the season. Zambrano is young and looked extrememly effective in the latter weeks of the season last year. If he can regain that composure for this season, he will make a great draft pick in the 13th Round to help anchor your SP staff.

I also believe that you can possibly grab Contreras and Ponson later on in the draft.

As far as your second pick, I might consider going in the direction of RP Dotel over Teixeira. Tough choice there, but either way you are going to get value in this round with your second pick (14th Round) so you really can't go wrong with either selection.

Just my .02 cents. Hope this helps and good luck. ;-D

thanks

Everyone is saying Zambrano, so think he is my best choice now.

You think Ponson's extra weight will hurt him much?

I don't know, Dotel could be wicked as a closer. I had him last year and he was amazing...but we weren't using holds. I think that he really will rack up some saves and probably more K against hitters later in games, etc. I like Zambrano as a starter too. Does not give up a lot of HR, he should only improve over last year and, unless he stinks, should be more wins w/ a more potent offense. I think Dotel now and then maybe Zambrano in the next round, if he lasts.
