injured Jermaine Dye and Ryan Braun?

Postby ballermz23 » Sun May 03, 2009 9:57 pm

I was wondering if Jermaine Dye (with his hand) or Ryan Braun (back problems) would be likely to go for tomorrow. I need to adjust accordingly if they both are out.

I don't know of any new news on Dye but he didn't play tonight so if you have someone I'd go ahead and play it safe (I did)

Here we go from CBS Sports

Jermaine Dye, RF CHW
News: According to White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen on a television broadcast, outfielder Jermaine Dye will likely be out one more game and should be able to return to the White Sox lineup on Tuesday against the Royals. Dye was hit on the hand on Saturday by an inside fastball and did not return to the game. He was also out of Sunday's lineup against the Rangers.

Analysis: Dye is still a bit of an injury risk for Fantasy week 5 (May 4-10) as his injury could take longer to come back from than Gullen initially anticipated. However, Dye is too strong of a player not to take the risk. Keep him active for the upcoming scoring period.

Just a quick note on Dye's injury. I have Dye and Hanley Ramirez on my fantasy line-up. Ramirez was hit on the hand with a 95 MPH fastball. X-rays for him came back negative and the early rumors were he would be back into the starting lineup by Wednesday. A pinch hit at bat late in Friday's game was his first at-bat since the injury.

Not sure what the velocity of the pitch that hit Dye or how squarely it hit him. The info re: Dye's status seems more positive than it did on Ramirez at this junction, but I thought I'd throw out my two-cents on the injury.

Braun is having an MRI today to see what is going on. I'm a bit more worried than normal because they have Hall playing LF which doesn't make much sense to me unless they think there is a chance that Braun will be hitting the DL and Gamel or Counsell will be playing 3B sometime soon.

Braun is out today (Monday). They moved hall to LF because they want to get another righty in the lineup tonight and will start McGhee at 3B. Brad Nelson and Chris Duffy, the Brewers' 4th and 5th OF, are both lefty bats.
