Just Offered Mauer. Counter or Go After Soto?

Postby jmcampbe11 » Sun May 03, 2009 9:50 pm

A few days ago I traded R.Martin/Reynolds for Youkilis/Werth. Now I'm looking to land a replacement catcher and improve my batting average.

This trade was just offered to me - GIVE) Alx.Ramirez/V/Wells GET) Mauer/Andrus. I could counter by asking for Kendrick or Peralta OR target Soto (on the same team). Would V. Wells for Soto be too much to give up? Any advice on what I should do?

I don't like him either. That's why I asked if should counter by asking for Kendrick or Peralta OR target Soto instead. Thoughts?

If AVG is your goal, Mauer is definately the one to target, but I wouldn't want to let go of Alexi. If you think you have to do it, target Peralta as part of the deal.

Thanks for the help.

I don't think you should do it. Andrus is nice but I think he will have a lot of ups and downs this year. Ram/Wells is too much for Mauer/Andrus. I think you should offer Wells for Soto and go from there!

Please help!

Definately stick with targeting Mauer in your situation...personally I would want to get peralta back in that deal if i was giving up alexei as both andrus and kendrick (to a lesser extent) seem unappealing to me

I feel like Wells is worth more then Soto at this point. If I target Soto, any chance this will fly?

GIVE) Hamilton/V.Wells GET) M.Cabrera/Soto

I don't think the owner is going to bite on that offer! But if he does...I would do it in a heartbeat!

If you are looking to improve on BA, Mauer is the way to go. Thanks for the help.

I agree with above...I would not give up on Alexei yet and think Andrus is little help. I do disagree as to Wells however, and do not think that is too much to give for Soto.
