Whose the Real Deal and whose the Fake? WHIR!

Postby WhipperSnappers44 » Sat May 02, 2009 10:06 pm

Hey all,

Just wondering if J. Upton, K.Morales, or R.Branyan are the real deal or just on a hot streak right now and will cool off?

They are available in 3 of my leagues and the positions needed are OF and backup 1B so these guys work but they have been tearing it up lately and not sure if they are worthy of a pickup or will they fizz out shortly?

Thanks! WHIR!

I think Upton is the real deal. He's got tons of upside, however, he will be streaky. He great when he's hot, but bench him when he's not. Right now he seems to be heating it up for a run. Grab him yet while you can. Morales would be my second option, but he too will be streaky.

I'm not ready to jump on the Upton train yet. I think he is still 2 years away from being a stud. Morales and Branyan will definitely be streaky. Branyan is interesting though since this is his first real shot and full playing time and his power is legit. He won't hit .333 that's for sure, but you would take him for his power anyway, not his avg.

Thanks for the replies....just to give you a breakdown here and to give you an idea of should I pick anyone up then here goes:

-My first league I have Yadier Molina that I think is droppable since I have Inge as my Catcher. (should I keep a backup Catcher or grab one of the mentioned)? (I have R.Howard as my 1B guy and no backup)...everyone else is to good to drop...(Below is my full rosters for all 3 leagues.

-My second league I have Lind and Peralta as possible drops. Theriot is my SS and as bad as he has been thus far he has heated it up the last 2 games and is good for steals. (Peralta has been garbage). As far as Lind goes I don't think he is that droppable but my other OF's are (Hart/Ellsbury/Cruz/Markakis/Eithier and Inge if I need him since I have Mauer at Catcher)....I tried to do some trades to lighten the OF load but nobody is working with me on any offers.

-Finally, my 3rd league I just made a trade (my Lowell/Berkman/F.Lopez/M.Cameron for his S.Victorino and Cano) this leaves me with 2 open roster spots and I also have Hideki Matsui which is a possible drop as well. The empty spots I was going to use for Pitchers since I need help in that area and the WW is decent.

so....with that said is any of the 3 mentioned worth dropping anyone for? Also, can you help with any trade ideas for my 2nd league with having so many OF's or should I make that a separate post?

Here is my roster for all 3 leagues if that helps any:

1st league: (H2H, 9CAT)

Inge, Howard, B.Roberts, Huff, Theriot, Ludwick, A.Jones, Ichiro, Lind...Bench (Furcal, Scutaro, Y.Molina, C.Hart)
Pitchers- Burnett, Liriano, K.Wood, C.Qualls, D.Lowe, A.Wainwright, K.Lohse, A.Harang

2nd League: (H2H, 9CAT)

Mauer, Howard, Kinsler, Zimmerman, Theriot, Ethier, Cruz, Markakis, A.Hill...Bench (Lind, C.Hart, Elsburry, Peralta, Inge)
Pitchers- Kazmir, C.Volstad, M.Capps, M.Rivera, M.Garza, J.Jurrjens, J.Verlander

3rd league: (Rottisere)

Inge, Morneau, Cano, Atkins, M.Young, Granderson, Sizemore, Victorino, Hill...Bench (B.Molina, H.Matsui, 2 open spots
Pitchers- K.Lohse, J.Chamberlain, C.Qualls, M.Lindstrom, A.Harang, C.Zambrano, B.Ziegler, E.Santana (DL)

So....Please let me know what you thing and I will help your 100%. Thanks!
