Lincecum Value

Postby GunSlinger51 » Sat May 02, 2009 8:43 pm

A few teams in my league have shown interest in Lince and I'm not totally against trading him, but I'm wondering what you guys would think to be fair value back for him.

Leave a link and I'll help ya out.

As a Lincecum owner, I wouldn't settle for anything less than a 2nd round type pick position player. Guys like Bay, Beltran, Pedroia...actually see if you could maybe get Jimmy Rollins?????

Ya thats what I was pretty much thinking also, I know the guy is need of K's badly so i may ask for Sizemore just to see if he'll do it.

Sizemore is overvaluing him, I think. I wouldn't trade Sizemore for Lincecum, as a Sizemore owner. I'd need Lincecum, and probably some mid round hitter for him- based on your rosetr in your sig, someone like Delgado or Pence MIGHT be enough...

I recently traded Lincecum and am getting heat in my league about it. I'll share my experience and tell you where I think he is valued.

Lincecum is a top 3-5 pitcher IMO, so I would imagine a 2nd round pick type player would be an even trade or a group of 2-3 players, depending on their value. I took him in the second round, around 17 overall.

A small setup prior to my trade: standard 5 x 5 format. We play for season long stats. 10 team league. Not heavily competitive, but play for fun with a few friends. Right now, I'm dead last in most offensive categories but lead most pitching categories.

I traded Lincecum, Lind, and Dukes for Jason Bay and Shane Victorino, plus a free agent spot to allow someone on the DL to come back. Lind and Dukes were Free agents a week ago prior to the trade. The odd part is that the team I made the deal with had so much OF depth (7 I believe on the roster now), that both Lind and Dukes will most likely be bench players the rest of the year.I believe his first 5-6 picks were all OF (auto draft). So, to me, I traded "unsure" starters and my ace pitcher for a solidified offense that now has Wright, Beltran, Kemp, Bay, and Victorino anchoring it. The kicker: my other pitchers are Billingsly, Greinke, and Harden, plus other average pitchers.

I kept getting Lincecum for McCann deals, and emails from the owner calling me dumb for not taking this deal. I even received Lincecum for Derrick Lee a few times. I even received Grienke for Theriot.

I know I didn't get the best value for Lincecum relative to the trade. I bet I could have made this deal with Lind and Lincecum only, but Dukes was going to be dropped anyway in our league and most likely left on the free agent wire, which tells how our league is. I tried getting another player added onto the trade, but needed a closer more.

The Sizemore deal really isn't as bad as it sounds. Timmay can single carry a pitching staff incredibly well. Go for the stars in dealing him.
