Add Matt Holliday (WW) and/or Brett Myers (FA)?

Postby Knights » Sat May 02, 2009 8:27 pm

Matt Holliday has recently been dropped and sits on waivers in my H2H non-keeper league, while Brett Myers has just cleared and is now a FA.

My team has been hit by injuries, so I feel like I'm losing roster mobility and want to make sure I don't make moves that aren't helpful to my team.

First off, Holliday... I have the #3 waiver position, and personally I just worry about what kind of numbers Holliday will put up this season. I'd like to have him on my team, but my thought is that I miay just wait to see if he clears waivers before I grab him (however I highly doubt he'd clear waivers, unless I'm mistaken and his stock has really fallen that far).

As for Myers, he's a guy who I keep thinking will turn it around like he did in the second half of last season.

So my questions are this:

1) Should I put a waiver claim in for Holliday, or wait it out to see if by some miracle he clears? And who should I drop for him?

2) Should I pick up Myers? And if so, who do I drop?

Here's my roster:

C John Buck (KC - C)
1B Adrián González (SD - 1B)
2B Chase Utley (Phi - 2B)
3B Aramis Ramírez (ChC - 3B)
SS J.J. Hardy (Mil - SS)
OF Nick Markakis (Bal - OF)
OF Jermaine Dye (CWS - OF)
OF Brad Hawpe (Col - OF)
Util Mark DeRosa (Cle - 2B,3B,OF)
BN Josh Hamilton (Tex - OF) DL
DL Brian McCann (Atl - C) DL

SP Roy Oswalt (Hou - SP)
SP Josh Beckett (Bos - SP)
RP Matt Capps (Pit - RP)
RP Fernando Rodney (Det - RP)
P Scott Downs (Tor - RP)
P Javier Vázquez (Atl - SP)
P Ted Lilly (ChC - SP)
BN Jordan Zimmermann (Was - SP)
BN Jon Lester (Bos - SP)
BN Joe Saunders (LAA - SP)
BN Joba Chamberlain (NYY - SP,RP)

IN A NON-keeper league I would drop Zimmerman for Holliday yeah his numbers are not the same but still will be a very solid hitter.

I'd probably drop both Zimmerman and DeRosa for Holliday. I think Holliday's numbers will be down from where they were while he was in Colorado, but I'd still take him as a hitter on my team. Zimmerman will have a bumpy road as do most young pitchers. I'd take Myers over him especially since he doesn't play for a great team.

YES, for sure add Holliday...that is ridiculous he's on WW. People that have no patience and are bailing on their key players less than a month into the season boggles my mind.
