Longoria Trade?

Postby bcbhockey68 » Sat May 02, 2009 9:13 am

I know this is way overpaying for this kid, but I love him and think he will take over Wright and Arod's spot as the best 3rd basemen in no more than three maybe two years so i'd be willing to overpay for that. How does this sound?

My Pedroia, Granderson, and R. Zimmermen for his Longoria, Byrnes, and Mark DeRosa? I know I'm downgrading at 2nd and OF by quite alot but I think it is worth getting the upgrade that Longo is going to bring me in the long run plus we can only keep 5 and I have Tex and Braun.

Sorry but i don't agree with you. I think you are giving up too much. Zimmerman looks healthy and hits in a small ballpark. I also lile Pedroia and Granerson alot morethen DeRosa and Byrnes.

agree with surfsup.

I really try to keep my likes/dislikes from clouding my judgement in fantasy, as it's strickly about the numbers.

Obviously, Longo is primo, and will be for a long time. But the fall off to Zim is far shorter than what you'd be giving up in the trade.

Looking for keepers is great (I do it also), but have you already given up THIS year?

I agree with you I think Longoria has the potential to be the best in the league...and soon.

I took him in the early in the 2nd round in my 4 player keeper league and I've had an offer to deal him away and couldn't pull the trigger. It was a pretty fair offer too.

The way I see it, you're giving up a keeper in Pedroia for a keeper in Longoria. I'd take that trade straight up everyday of the week. Byrnes and Derosa are potentially replaceable at their position if there's something decent on the waiver wire. Zimmerman may match Longoria's HR total but I doubt he'll put up the Avg, RBI. You may need to find a few sb's if you deal Granderson...

Well I really don't want to give up my chances to win this year for one great keeper, and can always do that if I'm out of contention with a fire sale for great keepers. So if you give really think the benefit is not that great then I think I will hold off and try to deal pedroia for an elite pitcher with a replacement 2nd basemen.
