Help me sift through the carnage of the AUTODRAFT. WHIRRR

Postby Hey Hermano » Fri May 01, 2009 2:05 am

I decided to start a second team in a Yahoo public league, for lulz. Here's what I got in the auto-draft.

12 team roto, traditional 5x5
C Pablo Sandoval
1B Miguel Cabrera
2B Jose Lopez
3B Aramis Ramirez
SS Yunel Escobar
OF Nate McLouth
OF Torii Hunter
OF Andre Ethier
Util Adam Lind
SP Dan Haren
SP Felix Hernandez
RP Max Scherzer
RP Joel Hanrahan
P James Shields
P Zack Greinke
P Aaron Harang
BN Stephen Drew (DL)
BN Pat Burrell
DL Alex Rodriguez
BN Mike Pelfrey

- I've refrained from making any moves on the waiver wire just yet. I'm waiting to see what the other owners in this league do first. If someone makes a dumb drop, I'm waiting to pounce on it.

- I need better closers. Scherzer is only has RP eligibility and Hanrahan is terrible. Scott Downs and Ryan Franklin are available on the waiver wire, but I'd rather not use a #6 waiver priority on either of them.

- Good news: Although I got A-Rod and Stephen Drew, Aramis Ramirez and Yunel Escobar slide in nicely as replacements. Bad news: Ramirez might go on the DL as well. Mike Lowell is available on the WW, but again, I'm saving my first priority for dumb drops.

- Very, very satisfied with my pitching.

- I used the same pre-draft rankings from my H2H team and ended up with the exact same McLouth/Hunter/Ethier outfield. Heh. Also the same 1st round pick (Miggy) and two of the same pitchers (King Felix and YES! GREINKE!)

- For this reason, I wouldn't mind trading my outfielders for upgrades, if only for variety's sake.

- I'd like to get rid of Adam Lind. He knows why.

Your starting pitching is amazing, but your bullpen is garbage. If I were you I'd either punt saves...and since I never punt saves I would instead...use my #6 waiver priority on Franklin. I think he will keep the job most of the year. He is very underrated. I would also try to pick up Downs as a FA. You have 0 closers right now, so if you want to be competitive at all in saves you either will have to trade for a closer or pick up those guys.

Yeah, maybe trade a SP for a closer...
