So, um, just like we all expected, Ryan Franklin is a Top 3 closer so far this season.

I've seen the doomsday stats from last year (though his 2007 numbers were excellent), but he has been fantastic in the first month. 7-for-7 in save opportunities. Hasn't allowed a run. Hardly allowed any baserunners. 9:2 K/BB.

I think it's all about the giant Jeff Bagwell beard.

Seriously, though, no reason he couldn't put together a Todd Jones season. Anyone else believe?

A player just finds himself some times, maybe this is Ryan's time (I sure hope so!).

well for me I hope he starts to suck since I invested in Chris Perez in alot of dynasty league this year.

I am definitely enjoying the ride so far...I think a lot of people jumped the gun far, far too quickly on Motte and Perez, forgetting all about La Russa's mancrush on Franklin.

No complaints here (with his performance thus far or the beard).

If you can find someone to buy him, you should sell him. Sure he could be the next 'insert cripple save guy' but he does not have good stuff and the odds of him staying closer all year are slim.

I'm a bitter Perez/Motte owner, and he has shown no signs of falting yet, but closers are very volatile outside the top 10-15, so I would not be surprised if he hits a rough patch at some point (whether it be May, June, July) and loses the job. For those of you who own him, enjoy the ride, but don't expect it to last all season.
