Trade Vetoed! Why? Please help...WHIR!

Hello all,

This trade was proposed by me and accepted by another guy but was vetoed and I am having a hard time figuring out why. I beleive it to be a fair offer that helps both of us in the positions we need. Please explain why this was vetoed....thanks and WHIR!

I offered my: Corey Hart, Ryan Theriot and Mike Lowell for his Alexei Ramirez and Jermaine Dye.

I am currently in 1st place and he is in 9th. Thank you for your assistance in this matter, do I have an argument here? WHIR 100%.

May not have been the explanation you were looking for, but it's probably acurate. This certainly doesn't look like collusion, and it's not that lopsided. It does benefit you however, and your league mates don't want to see the first place guy get stronger. This is why I only play in a league where the commissioner approves trades, and his sole criteria is preventing collusion. It's usually smart at the beginnging of the season for the commissioner to announce the expectations for trades, i.e. stupid trades are allowed, but collusion is stricty prohibited. Vetoing trades based solely on preventing someone from improving their team is itself a form of collusion in my opinion, and I'd let your league know.

So.....is there anything I can do about this? I sent a message to Yahoo Sports Customer Service and I also sent a message to the league (not even sure they will care even) but that's all I can think of to do.

Not much you can do. If you complain on the league message board it will just piss more people off and you will have a harder time doing ANY trade. I would wait a little while longer and then try it again maybe?

Everyone needs to stop joining leagues where votes determine trades. The above trade is nowhere near being beto-worth....if it was me, I'd wanna quit if that happened. It sucks when you're only in one league, and its well into the season and you realize your in a league where trades get voted down strategically.....ruins the fun (happened to me in a basketball league last year...)
Not much you can do, as was noted above. Are these friends of yours or a public league? If they're friends, you can try to reason with them...and make the (correct) case that there should be no more voting and/or no vetoing unless there's cheatin' afoot - or I'd even be ok with vetoing down the absolutely terrible trades that throw off competitive balance.

Thanks for the reply. It is a public league and I really don't think they care.

I guess now though I have learned my lesson and will check on the leagues from now on with the correct voting procedures.
