Ludwick v. McClouth, Lester v. Hamels v. Volquez; WHIR!

Hey guys,

Which player would you rather have, Nate McClouth or Ryan Ludwick? I realize both have different strengths, but I'm talking about overall value here, I'm not concerned with which player fits my team the best.

As for the starters, please rank 'em. I would think Hamels-Lester-Volquez, but that's just me. I'd love to hear some opinions.

I guess I'll toss this in here as well to avoid clutter on the boards. Who would you rather have at SS: Miguel Tejada or Jason Bartlett?

Thanks a lot, leave a link and WHIR.
C: Pierzynski
1B: Pujols
2B: Altuve

OF (x3): CarGo, M. Bourn, D. Jennings
UTIL (x2): E. Encarnacion, C. Hart
BN: Cuddyer, C. Ross, J. Montero

SP: Price, Gallardo, T. Hudson, Lester
RP: Chapman, Jansen, Rodney, Putz, Cishek, Bailey

Ludwick. He's hitting behind the best player in baseball who's on base 45% of the time, last year was not a fluke. I like McLouth but he's in a god-awful lineup and won't have the HR and RBI numbers that Ludwick will.

Hamels
Lester
Volquez

Hamels is still tops here, and I don't think it's terribly close. He's had an awful start to the year--arm troubles, control and speed issues when he was rusty, and now the ankle, but by years end he'll have the best stats, no doubt. Lester, to me, provides more consistency than Volquez--he won't have many blowup starts this year. And he's on the better team so should provide more wins.

Any help here?

Id rather have Ludwick. Its close, but Ludwick is no joke.

As far as pitching goes, its tough because Hamels just got hurt. As long as the ankle isnt serious, it is a pretty easy ranking for me:

Hamels
Lester
Volquez

If you have volquez (like I do) you wait for the one outing that makes sportscenter when he strikes out 15 and walks 1 and you trade him. He is too volatile for this year. Lester will be back. Hope this helps

I agree with both of these guys on both points.

Ludwick will drive in plenty with HR totals to back him up. McClouth is really a legit 20/20+ guy but his RBI totals will be decidedly meh.

Hamels
Lester
Volquez

Easily. Volquez seems to rarely have an "ok" start, they're either really good or really bad. Lester will even things out and Hamels seems to making serious progress... hes been unlucky so far.
