Hamels turned his ankle in the top of the fifth trying to field a bunt. After a visit to the mound by the coaches, he went to throw a practice pitch and immediately walked off the field. That's a shame...he was off to a great start again. Fastball consistently 91-92, change consistently 77-79. He did walk off the field under his own power, without a limp.

He turned it pretty hard, but it would be impossible to guess the severity of the injury. Hopefully it's nothing too serious, but my gut says a trip to the DL is better than even money. It'd be hard to imagine him making his next start.
i mean can we catch a break at some point this season? 4.1 IP 4H, 2BB, 4K but more importantly zero ER, but doesn't qualify for win again... just traded for him on a buy low already, and looked like tonight that trade was gonna pay off in a big big way, its a shame hopefully nothing bigger then a sprain, hurt like hell but manageable...

Whoa wait...He left in the 5th inning after Philly was already up 5-0. How does he not get a win? Is this another mistake by Yahoo or some crazy rule I don't know about?
i believe its 5 2/3's innings the starter has to pitch to be qualified for the win... which i have always thought is dumb because a relief pitcher can pitch 1 out and get the win... but those are the rules.

I think it's just 5 innings to qualify for the win.

Wow, I cannot believe after watching baseball all my life and playing fantasy baseball since 1998 that I didn't know there was an innings pitched minimum to qualify for a win. I agree with you that it's a pretty dumb rule for the exact reasons you stated.
