White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said Sunday that he wants Gordon Beckham to spend the entire 2009 season in the minor leagues.

Some fans in Chicago are clamoring for a call-up with Chris Getz about to hit the disabled list. "This kid should play a full season down there," Guillen said of Beckham. "If you see Beckham in the big league, we are in trouble. I want this kid to be a real big-league player. I don't want him to come here and fill up a spot, and then go back to the minor leagues."

Picked him up a couple weeks ago in my keeper league.

Yea, kinda sucks for keeper league owners, but oh well

that sucks i saw this kid in college and we was dang good and i believe that if they were to call him up he wouldn't just be filling the spot he would steal the starting spot

He is without a doubt the best MLB 2B the White Sox have in their organization. He would give them a better chance to win than Nix or Getz. He's was a very competent college player and was playing at a MLB level when he got drafted out of Georgia. There was thoughts of moving Ramirez back to CF and then put Beckham at SS, his natural position. This has really only been mentioned due to White Sox having a whole at the CF spot. Still, Beckham is killing it at AA and if he makes the team better than he should be the starter.

Something that really gets my goat is holding a player back when they are the best player available. IMO, the best player at the time should be your starter. Mark my words, Beckham is going to force his way to the majors as he's that polished and that good. You could be looking at the next Chase Utley.
