Manny for Liriano/Sandoval in keeper? Will help U 2

Postby jnormy » Mon Apr 27, 2009 1:37 pm

It's an 18-team, keeper league, points scoring, 25-man rosters, with keepers kept per previous year's draft according to a formula. (Full roster and league info below.)

I'm sick of Figgins' lack of production at the 3B position (esp. since steals only account for 1 point each in my league) and Shoppach barely playing half the time. After I sent feelers around re. 3B and C, the guy who owns Sandoval inquired if I would trade any of my 4 top OFs. Here's the story: I have Manny in the first-round slot also occupied by Pujols, so I'd be throwing Manny back into the mix in next year's draft, thus likely losing him. Is it worth trading him now if I could get the other guy to deal me Sandoval (with his C and 3B eligibility) who can be kept in round 19 and Liriano who can be kept in round 12? League scoring favors slugging over speed, and high K pitchers seem to score well also. Will Liriano turn it around and get his old groove back post-TJS?

I def. don't want to deal Bruce, Ethier's younger and in a much better keeper round than Manny, and Soriano's still producing and could be a 2nd round option over Peavy next year for me, if Jake doesn't get his act together. Is Manny for Sandoval/Liriano fair? Or should I just sit tight and see how it goes (I'm currently in 4th place, within shouting distance of the top spot). Thanks, and leave your link too.

I would keep Manny here. I like your team the way it is without making this deal and Liriano and Sandoval are two question marks in my opinion and you don't trade Manny for two questionable players.

please help

Yes you are, but only cuz you are wildly overestimating how good Sandoval is. Manny is a stud, keep him. The only way you even consider this is if Liriano was pitching well, which hasnot been the case obviously. Even then I wouldn't do it. It's April, don;t worry about keepers for next year when you can win THIS year. Keep Manny.
