Claim Verlander on Waivers?

Hey guys,
Verlander just hit the WW. I have the #10 waiver, so no biggie on losing it or I could wait to see if he clears. I know he has been bad this year, but its tough to ignore his strikeout potential and history. Is he worth a pickup? If so, who should I drop?

I don't see anyone you can drop. Pelfrey would probably be the closest IMO. He has been pitching poorly and doesnt get too many K's.

Actually,
I forgot...I just cleared up a roster spot with a trade, so I have an empty slot. Should I pick him up or snag a backup hitter from these choices:

Conor Jackson
Travis Snider
