I'm in a 4x4 NL-only roto league and have Brandon Webb on my team. With the uncertainty around his return and subsequent effectiveness, I have decided to replace him. Every other team in my league (6 total) has 5 starters and 3 relievers while I am currently rostering 6 and 2, respectively. I suspect as a result of this discrepancy, over time, I will fall back in saves (I'm holding my own currently with Capps and Qualls) while my healthy starters (Santana, Lincecum, Gallardo, Cain, and Peavy) should be enough to provide sufficient points in the wins/WHIP/ERA categories. So, my question...if I replace Webb with a reliever-- am I better served over the long haul by selecting R. Soriano or R. Franklin? I need saves as well as solid WHIP and ERA stats...but given the relatively few innings pitched compared to the starters-- saves is the most critical stat I am seeking to gain. I narrowed down my search to these two guys, but perhaps there is someone else under the radar who deserves consideration?
Or...should I pick up another starter and ensure I lead the Wins category with the potential to bolster the ERA and WHIP categories as well? The likes of Wandy Rodriguez are still available on our waiver wire, but I think there is more risk in those categories if the wrong selection is made (more innings vs. a closer), although this logic could be flawed.
Thoughts???
Thanks,
