Is Peavy hurt?

In my mind, with pitchers, the risk outweighs the reward in this type of situation. I agree with the "don't bench your studs" strategy as far as hitters go (within reason) but when a pitcher is struggling there are two possibilities: either he is hurt, in which case he will continue to struggle until he is placed on the DL, or he is in a "slump" which will often take him longer to work through than a hitter because he doesn't play every day.

I also doubt that he is going to go from being godawful to phenomenal in one start, but if he pitches really really well in his first start after I benched him, I would probably reinsert him immediately. My definition of "good" start is one where he goes 6 or 7 innings with a decent WHIP and normal K/BB ratio.

I think, in Peavy's case, he is doing more damage to H2H owners right now than he is to Roto owners...I have him in a points league and I'm just getting less points than I would have had he been playing better. In my H2H 11X11 league, I would have benched him by now because he would have killed me the last two weeks.

If I remember correctly, CC was awful last year to start the season and could be had quite cheaply and we all know how his season and the seasons of his fantasy owners ended up.

Be patient with Peavy. He thought he was going to be a Cub right about now...

This reference to Sabathia is absolutely correct - I traded CC after 6 or 7 awful starts - I mean his ERA was around double digits, if I remember correctly.

I just traded for Peavy, so I'm definitely not moving him any time soon. Just frustrating, but I'm riding him out.
