Fair offer?

Postby RenT » Sun Apr 26, 2009 4:39 pm

Hey guys,

Just wondered if this is a fair trade proposal to send out (14 team, 5x5 roto league with VERY deep rosters):

My Kyle Lohse and Jack Cust for his Carlos Beltran and Verlander

Feels like the ultimate sell high/buy low, but will he even go for it?

Here's my team:

C Victor Martinez
C Gerald Laird
1B Morneau
2B Kelly Johnson
3B Scutaro
SS Hardy
MI Alexei Ramirez
CI Adam Dunn
OF Holliday
OF Vernon Wells
OF McLouth
OF Luke Scott
OF Cust
Util S. Hairston
P Harang
P Lohse
P Scherzer
P Owings
P Floyd
P Jered Weaver
P Qualls
P Wilson
P Zumaya

Bench - Nady, Jose Guillen, Ramon Herndanez, Encarnacion, Kelvim Escobar, Ervin Santana, Fausto Carmona

My team is struggling in average and SBs right now... just acquired Holliday and I think adding Beltran to that would really boost the average. Also, I think Verlander could really come back... he's shown flashes this season. Plus, he'll contribute greatly to K's. My only concern is I'm not giving up enough with Lohse and Cust... let me know if you think there's a more fair offer to be sent.

And leave links, I'll get to it ASAP!

I dont think that would be enough...Lohse and Cust might be two sell high candiadates and Verlander is a buy low

Beltran>>>Cust
Lohse > Verlander (so far)

but I would still give it a shot
Thanks for ur help

I don't think he goes for it to be honest, Lohse needs to do a little more before u get this kind of value for him and I think the book has already been written on Cust, he's a 1 trick pony. Plus, are u sure u want Verlander, he looked pretty bad last year and looks just plain terrible so far in '09? U might get Beltran W/Ervin in the deal, that's a little more reallistic. This is a tough one I hope I helped a little. Thnx for the help on mine.

No harm in proposing it, it would definitely help you. Who knows, he might accept if not counter.

Both Lohse and Cust are much worse than Beltran or Verlander.

Can't see it happening... Not sure if I would offer without sweetening it some. Just so not to scorn him

Help me out...

Well I offered it and he came back at me with:

His Beltran, Verlander, Weeks for My Vernon Wells, Gavin Floyd, Alexei Ramirez

I don't think I like this one since I'm giving up Ramirez in there too. Any thoughts on this and/or a counter offer?

Well first off, I'm surprised he came back with a counter, as that first offer you sent was kind of insulting, and some owners get annoyed by offers like that. So good thing for him being a good sport. That being said, let's break down this new deal.

Beltran is the best player involved by far.

Beltran is better than Wells
Verland and Floyd are both pretty awful. Verlander has more upside, but I think Floyd will end up having betetr numbers. Verlander really isn;t as good as he was a couple years ago.

Alexie is obvously better than Weeks, even though he's playing like garbage. I'm confused though, as Wells and Ramirez don;t appear to be on the roster you posted above.

Oh that's my bad... I was trying to go off the top of my head earlier and completely forgot the MI and CI positions... updated the roster above.

So does Beltran>Wells outweigh Weeks<Alexei?

(I don't really feel comfortable giving up Alexei... but maybe I just need to be talked into it
