Are SP limits open for interpretation?

I'm in an ESPN 5X5 H2H league. This is my second year playing. My first year (in a different league) we had an SP limit of 13 per week, and everyone was on the honor system. No issues.

I'm in a public pay league this year, never played with these guys before. We have an SP limit of 12. Today, this guy is scheduled to start on SP over the weekly limit. I was also scheduled to start one over, and I dropped my extra pitcher (he was a match-up FA pick-up anyway).

Point is, I asked my opponent to observe league rules and do likewise.

He declined, and his logic is "if ESPN allows it, it's not cheating". He also claims all pay public legaues have a similar set-up, which is as long as you start 11 or fewer starting pitchers by the end of the day Saturday, you can add as many SPs as you want on Sunday. He said all seasoned players know this.

Is this accurate? If yes, no problem. If no, how would you respond?

look at my post further down with no responses.. Some guy started 30 pitchers on me this week.. yes 30 maybe more lost count. Don't play daily leagues cause people dont like realistic teams in them, they drop and add to get as many starts as possible if there is no starting limit.

this is why i will never play for money with people i dont know. hopefully you havent paid yet...if so, that sucks

i would assume the 12 start max is not something you can program into ESPn settings, so you will never be able to police it.

it sounds like you are screwed and bc money is involved you will just have to break the "rules" also.

maybe if everyone else in the league agrees, you can kick the guy out and give him his money back

In the future set a moves limit for the year. That would do away with streaming. Very easy. Until then, play by the same rules.
