Quentin for Phillips

Postby mateo150 » Sat Apr 25, 2009 10:27 pm

I have Quentin, was offered B. Phillips for him. I do need middle infielding, but Phillips is off to a crapper of a start on a seemingly poor team whereas Quentin in an offensive machine in Chicago. I'm thinking about counter offering Quentin + Floyd for M. Derosa + Hamels or E. Santana.

Thoughts?

Bad trade for you. Quentin is a top 25 guy and I would look to get that in return. Phillips isn't hitting so don't trade your best OF for a guy who hasn't shown anything yet. This is the time to buy low on Phillips not over pay.

Is Phillips even good? This is my first year in FB, so I've never seen him play. Is Phillips a guaranteed commodity? I'd like to get DeRosa in the trade as well, I like his 2B & OF eligibility. Suggestions?

Maybe Granderson + O. Cabrera for Phillips & DeRosa?

P.S. - our leagues scores OBP instead of BA...which is a minus for Phillips since he has a 320 OBP...average is 350

Phillips is generally considered one of the better 2B options. But no matter what he is not a guy you build your team around. Quentin is. If you want to trade for a 2B and you are offering Quentin then you should be looking at Pedroia or Utley in return. A couple of things to keep in mind. When you trade, try and not give up quality for quantity and when you have a top 25 guy then expect to get a top 25 guy in return.
