Theriot and Soriano Owners Rejoice!!!!!!

Postby AussieDodger » Sat Apr 25, 2009 11:46 am

The Cubs have placed Ryan Theriot as their leadoff man in an effort to jump-start their offense.
Regular leadoff man Alfonso Soriano will now hit out of the three-spot, where Derek Lee was - he'll now bat fifth. Kosuke Fukudome will remain second and Aramis Ramirez will continue to hit cleanup. "Those (four) have been our best hitters," manager Lou Piniella said. The manager also said he would put Milton Bradley at sixth when the injured outfielder returns next week. Theriot is batting .365 with five RBI, seven runs and three stolen bases. This will give him an opportunity to increase both his run count and stolen bases

Hooray!
More runs and steals for Theriot and many, many more RBIs for Soriano.

As a Fukudome/Theriot owner all I can say is ooh yeah! ;-D

Finally they drop Lee down. It's not 2004 anymore and it's taken 5 years to realize that.

aramis has hit 5th for most of the year and not 4th. milton was hitting 4th mostly with lee mostly hitting 3, so its actually an upgrade for aramis owners as well.

I guess this is the wrong thread for this, but since we are discussing the Cubs lineup, is Bradley even worth having in a 12 team league? I've got him on my bench right now but is there much of a chance of him being productive for the year?

When healthy I think he'll produce excellent #'s; however, with his freakish injury history it wouldn't surprise me at all if he only played in 40 games this year.

If the offense doesn't pick up right away it probably won't stick, but this is what the lineup should have been last year (well, no Fukudome.)

the only problem with this setup is that Soriano gets all depressed about not leading off and completely fails to produce any time Lou puts him in the third spot. witness the past two days (especially today's horrible 3-slider-in-the-dirt-swinging-strikes k with men on 2nd and 3rd).

better just to accept that he hits mostly solo HRs and is a big baby unless he's leading off. on paper, theriot leading off makes way more sense but it just doesn't seem to shake out that way. which is another reason why fonsi is the most overpaid player since zito.
