Calling him up and not playing him makes no sense. They need to send him back down or give him the everyday job and leave him be. My guess is ownership wanted him up, but Wedge doesn't want to play him, so expect to see Wedge out of a job soon.

And here I thought it was the GM's job to make these moves. Not that manger wasn't part of the conversation, but ultimately it's the GM's call.

Oh it is the GMs job. The issue is, when they bring someone up... it's the managers job to play them. Understand that you don't call a kid up from AAA, to give him 15 ABs a week. If that's all you can give him, don't call him up in the first place. Doesn't help anyone, especially LaPorta. If you're Wedge, you tell Shapiro not to call him up. If Shapiro insists on making the move, and he's your boss, maybe you don't act like a 6yr old girl, trying to prove a point.

Agreed with Spectrum. You don't sit a top prospect, that would be like the Orioles calling up Weiters and having him the back up catcher. Especially with how bad the Indians have been, Wedge just signed his own pink slip.

Sounds like Sizemore is hurting. If he goes on the DL, will they bring LaPorta back up and give him full time AB's?

Delucci was DFA'd today, to call up Rafael Perez back to the bullpen. So this now leaves, Francisco, Choo, Crowe, and Sizemore in the OF. DeRosa is also in the mix, but the everyday OF should be Francisco/Sizemore/Choo from L to R. if Sizemore does go to the DL (which I have not heard anything about the last couple of days, locally) I would honestly assume Crowe (a natural CF) will be out there in his place.

Francisco is starting to hit like he did when he was called up last season (.295/.355 8hr 35rbi 19 doubles in 63 games pre-ASB) which is absolutely respectable. Choo is starting to slow down and Wedge has shown that he's all about tinkering with the lineup every day.

I don't think (at least I hope) that LaPorta will be back up unless they need him as an everyday starter.
