Tough drop decisions for McCann/ARam replacements. WHIR

Ughh. Freakin' lasik surgery :-P Looks like I'll need to scoop John Baker back up to fill in for a while. But I'm stumped for a good drop. We have 2 DL spots, and I have both of them filled. People don't like to trade in this league, so trying to swing a 2-for-1 deal is out (I've been trying all week). And if ARam's out for a while I may need to drop a second guy (picking up either Teahan or Lowell). Though if he stays day-to-day I may just ride it out. 10-team redraft H2H, 6x6 scoring (with OPS and holds). This is the team:

C: McCann !+)
1B: Teix
2B: Utley
3B: Aram !+)
SS: Drew !+)
OF: Carlos Lee
OF: Magglio "Mr. Singles" Ordonez
OF: Abreu
Util: Damon
Bn: Werth - OF

SP: Halladay, Gallardo, Grienke, Nolasco, Danks, Baker, Slowey, Randy Johnson
RP: Soria !+) , Percival :-P , Franklin, Putz
DL: Smoltz, Carpenter

Who gets the boot if McCann goes on the DL? And god forbid, but who also gets the boot if ARam goes on the shelf for an extended period? I guess it comes down to Baker, Slowey, RJ, or one of the DL guys. Or maybe Percival since he sucks, just riding it out with 2 closers until I'm over this rough patch. But with Soria looking to miss time, I don't think I can do that for a few days.

Leave a link and I'll answer yours.

Thanks for help on mine.

For you, my first drop would be RJ (he has been dropped in several of the leagues I am in) and if you have to drop a second one, I would drop Putz unless you think K-Rod is going to go down. I like all of your SP (although I can't believe you can't get anything in trade for one of them) and would not drop them, nor would I drop Percy - his peripheral stats may not be that good but he is on a good team and is still their guy, and in addition, the other Rays relievers have been struggling, so he should remain as closer.

My first option at dropping would be Putz. I wouldn't worry too much and would pick up Baker. If Aram hits the DL as well, I would probably drop RJ or Baker (-17 pts in my league) becuase he will probably be able to be picked back up after the DL stint. You think someone wants Smoltz to put on their DL? If not, dropping him is an option too.

1. Baker, can't see anyone picking him up right now since he stinks
2. Smoltz, who knows if/when he'll produce and since he's on the DL maybe he's still there later

I'd drop Putz since he's just a set-up man. My second drop would be Baker. I don't think many guys will rush out to grab him now until he gets his act together. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't land on the DL again. Something is not right with him.

Holds is a cat in this league, Putz is his holds guy, hence he's a keeper.

I would drop Smoltz and either Baker or RJ.

Your pitching is pretty deep so I may be inclined to hang on to Baker to see if he can get things right. He has more upside than RJ imo.

Thank you ayebatter!!! ;-D Putz is gold in a holds league. If I drop him, it's a guarantee I never see him on my team for the rest of the season. And it's also almost a guarantee that the guy I pick up to replace him down the line will be a downgrade at the position. Plus, I don't want to completely punt a category for 2+ weeks. I'm not even thinking about dropping Putz. However, the league is kind of a shallow one and I think I have a chance at getting back some of the lower level SPs down the road. To give you an example, RJ was dropped after his 1st couple of starts. Then he pitched the near no-no ... and I was kind of shocked that no one picked him up by the time Sportscenter was airing that evening (and RJ's fantastic start was one of the top stories). So I added him by dropping my #2 holds guy (it seemed most teams in this league are only riding with 1 middle reliever, so I figured that was something I could spare).

More opinions are welcome. I'll be looking at today's RJ start closely.

I gotta go with ayebatter on this one. Baker makes the most sense to drop. Drop him and get Baker(C). I think Baker(P) will be safe on the ww for at least a week. Most will probably want to see a couple of good starts before they make a move for him.

Smoltz second.

good luck
