What do you guys think of this guy so far? Fairly unhittable today but killed himself with walks and especially walking a run in to the pitcher. He has given up right around a walk per IP this year and last year he was giving up 4.27BB/9IP. If he was closer to that general level his WHIP this year would be under 1.40 and I imagine his ERA would be much more reasonable too. Should I expect 4-5BB/9IP or is 6+ possible for Volquez? Everyone likes to point at his 1st/2nd half splits last year as evidence that he is not that good but if you look at what he did in September he showed it wasn't just hitters catching up with him. A 4.00 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with his K's and 14ish wins are not bad at all. Am I being overly optimistic?
