Trade DLee for pitching? help! WHIR!

Postby sha » Fri Apr 24, 2009 5:08 pm

With derrek lee struggling early, I've been contemplating dropping him. I am a cubs fan and i hate to do it, but now i've gotten a trade offer. the offer was Verlander and Penny for Derrek Lee. I am not sold on verlander/penny and the offering team also has Galarga, Wainwright and Josh Johnson. Should I counter and ask for one of them instead? Do you think they would upgrade my sp staff? I am looking for W's and K's. I know i can get Konerko off the ww to replace Lee. do i work a deal? if so...for who? or should i just walk away, leave my pitchers alone and see if DLee works out the kinks (maybe just drop him for Paulie if he doesn't)

In your situation I'd rather have quality than quantity. You've got a decent staff and trading one guy for 2 means you'd have to drop someone and I don't know if either pitcher is better than your worst (which is maybe Lilly??)

I'd try Derek Lee straight up for Josh Johnson or Wainwright...doubt he'd do it but maybe he really likes Lee...than you could find someone else to drop to replace Lee.

By the way: Even though you are a Cubs fan it's great that you realize Lee's just about done.

If you can get Josh Johnson for DLee, that would be great. Make that your first offer. Wainwright is a good second option.

Don't just drop DLee yet, but I'd still try to find a way to get Figgins and Konerko on my team.

we keep no bench so i'm not in a situation where i can stash anybody away. if i can deal for wainwright or josh johnson who do i cut lose? it would have to be one of my sp's.

I would take Verlander for DLee if you can't get Johnson, and pick up Adam LaRoche as well since he is hot in April for a change.

I would do the Johnson for Lee for sure. Verlander not sure about that one.
