Last in BA. Early Season Slump or Cause for Concern?

Postby jmcampbe11 » Fri Apr 24, 2009 4:43 pm

10 team roto league. I know it's early, but I'm dead last in batting average. Cause for concern or are my players just off to a slow start? Trying to figure out of I need to make a trade to address the issue.

i wouldn't flip a lid just yet... you have a real nice looking lineup... Martin, Alexei, Phillips and i don't see Sizemore and Hamilton both batting under .260 all season... and a point i would make is even if you wanted to make a big move you may as well stand pat as your not going to get true value out of most of the players you have that are struggling... i would hold on and wait for the ship to right itself...

help me out...

I'm not so sure I agree w/the above post...I think some of your struggling guys may keep struggling (and lowering their value even more)

Philips had an off year last year
Alexi Ramirez is very unproven
Mark Reynold is always gonna have crappy ave
Jose Lopez had a career year last year (maybe that was his ceiling?)

Plus:
Adam jones is playing above his head
Dye is on a tear
Sizemore is never an average guy
Hamilton will come around and Gonzalez is a stud.

I'd package some of your low average/high power guys (Reynolds/Phillips) for a good Ave/(and whatever other category you need) guy.

I would sit tight. You have some proven guys on there that should come around real soon.

Thanks for the help on mine

I think you do have some notorious low avg guys. Gonzo won't hit .300 (though he's still very valuable). Reynolds is an avg killer. BUT, Martin, Phillips, and Alexei SHOULD improve. I'd find a way to lose Reynolds.

Hamilton, Reynolds
for
M.Cabrera, Choo

Am I getting enough in return? Can I count on "Ah" Choo to produce this season and hit for a good avg?

That's good for you. Cabrera is about .300 hitter, Choo is a .290, for Hamilton probably .290 and Reynolds a huge BA drag. Plus I like Cabrera better overall than Hamilton for the year.
