Trying to get Slowey WHIR

Postby Guzman24 » Fri Apr 24, 2009 3:08 pm

I could use some more pitching depth.

manager with Slowey has Kevin Gregg and Qualls as a closer and not much else.

Im thinking of trying to offer him Marmol/+ for Slowey so he's all set up if Gregg loses the job.

Is this enough in your opinion or do i need to offer more? Or should I hang on to Marmol?

Offer Marmol and Josh Johnson for Slowey. You'd be a big winner there...Slowey has the ability to be as good as Greinke is right now, and he is a fantasy #2 starter.

HAHAHAHA what?? you kidding me? do NOT do that... i would think about something like Mike Gonzalez and either Sanchez/Zimmerman for Slowey at most... i would not rid of Marmol he will be closing before long and will rack up a good number of saves with the stout Cubs roster... do not trade Josh Johnson for Slowey you would lose BIG time, Johnson himself is a #2 bare minimum and #1 at times, Slowey is nothing more then a #3 at best... i would lookin to move Gonzalez tho as Soriano will be stealing alot more saves from him with him struggling as he is right now...

help me out...

Marmol by himself may be too much for Slowey, especially if your league counts holds.

I would try to package Gonzo with Zimmerman/Sanchez

I would keep Jimenez, just depending on what you are looking for

Do not trade Johnson for Slowey though

Yes, there is no way Im going to move JJohnson. I think he's going to have a huge year. wouldn't trade him straight up for Slowey, let alone throwing in Marmol.

I realize Slowey is no more than a number 3 but thats what Im looking for, depth.

I have Webb(hope he comes back strong) and Lincecum as my anchors. Johnson as my number 3 but then my pitching really drops off.

Any more ideas on what I can offer for slowey? And to the above poster, my league doesnt count holds. We have to set weekly lineups so I periodically use marmol to help with whip/era/k's. Better than using one of my other SP's who could blow up my peripherals lol

Check for weaknesses in the other guys lineup. If he needs some power then you could offer up Konerko
