Worth keeping an eye on, yes. In a standard mixed league I doubt I would want him on my roster, unless a pitch and ditch or matchup type of thing. In a deep or NL only league, he has potential.
Three triple A starts this year as follows:
- Code: Select all
Date IP R ER H 2B 3B HR SO BB
April 19 @ Syracuse 5.1 7 5 9 2 0 1 6 0
April 14 vs. Scranton/WB 5.0 3 2 8 0 0 0 5 3
April 9 vs. Pawtucket 2.0 5 5 5 4 0 0 2 3
He ranks in many top 100 prospect lists, but probably in the bottom 25. His ceiling is probably a #2 MLB starter, but I don't think he hits that ceiling. Probably a reasonable #4 MLB pitcher.
In terms of 2009 fantasy, given he isn't a high upside guy like Tommy Hanson, the odds are he is up and down. Which is why I doubt he will be rosterable in most standard mixed leagues. But in deep leagues, he has some upside, and worth a shot.
