Keeper trade

Postby wkpdpack » Thu Apr 23, 2009 11:42 pm

An owner is looking for a minor league player in return for pitching. I'm willing to G. Sanchez and Milledge for some starting pitching and possibly 2B help. He's got Danks and Johnson that I would be interested in along with Roberts. I figure Roberts will at least get me stolen bases and a decent average...something Aviles isn't doing. I'd also consider selling high on Fukudome since his history says he won't keep this up. I can always play Ad. LaRoche at the U spot. Another option is dealing Hanrahan before he loses the closer role.

My Fukudome, Aviles, G. Sanchez for Danks or Johnson and Roberts a fair offer? If so, would you offer the deal or would you offer up something else? I'm currently in 2nd place.

My team:
C Navarro, Snyder
1B Howard
2B Aviles
3B Blalock (Gordon on DL)
SS Furcal
MI S. Drew
CI Morneau
OF Hamilton, Braun, Kemp, Granderson, Hart
U Fukudome
P Bell, Billingsley, Blanton (Kuroda on DL), Greinke, C. Lee, Millwood (Baker on DL), Percival, KRod, Scherzer
Bench: Ad. LaRoche, Greene, Hanrahan
Minors: Milledge, Rasmus, Fowler, I. Stewart, G. Sanchez (can remain on minor league bench as long as I want to keep them there even though they might be in majors, but once I bring them up they stay on major bench unless they are sent back to the minors.)

His team:
C Laird, Shoppach
1B D. Lee
2B Roberts
3B Young
SS Jeter
MI F. Sanchez
CI Encarnacion
OF DeRosa, Dukes, Ellsbury, Hermida, M. Ramirez
U Bartlett
P Broxton, Danks, Duke, J. Johnson, Masterson, Meche, Papelbon, Washburn, Ziegler

I'm of the opinion that even seemingly lopsided trades can have merit and yours is more than fair in my opinion. I'd say you are getting the smarter end of it for sure because you are getting players with longer track records so some might say it is lopsided. I think you are fine though personally, that would be a killer trade for you I think.

Thanks for helping on mine.

Thanks for helping with mine. I would probably not do that deal if I was him, as Roberts is clearly the best player in the deal and I'm sure he probably has the same thoughts about Fukudome. See if he'll take Sanchez and Milledge for Johnson or Danks.

Not sure if he would accept it, but if he does (probably because he would have an affinity for top prospects), then you definitely come out like a champ. There's no harm in offering it up.

He would be dumb to accept. You would probably have to at least replace Fukudome with Hart.

Thanks for the help.
