Would I be overpaying for Lincecum?

Postby jcde7ago » Thu Apr 23, 2009 10:47 pm

I got offered Tim Lincecum for my Chad Billingsley and Erik Bedard.

This is a 12-Team Yahoo! H2H dynasty keeper league. Just want to get some input on whether or not i'd be overpaying for Timmy, even in a keeper league.

Here's my staff:

SP - Chad Billingsley - (LAD - SP)
SP - Scott Kazmir - (TB - SP)
RP - Ryan Franklin - (Stl - RP)
RP - Mike Gonzalez - (Atl - RP)
RP - Manny Corpas - (Col - RP)
P - Javier Vazquez - (Atl - SP)
P - Erik Bedard - (Sea - SP)
P - Justin Verlander - (Det - SP)
BN - Randy Johnson - (SF - SP)
BN - Tommy Hanson - (Atl - SP) NA
DL - Joel Zumaya - (Det - RP)

Am I better off just staying with Bedard and Billingsley? I think my pitching would take a huge hit with the loss of both of them. There are really no other good waiver wire pitchers out there either, almost everyone is rostered as we have multiple DL spots and a deep bench. I am not even sure if I will be able to keep Timmy, as we keep 6 and I have those slots filled with hitters as of now (check sig...yes it's legit, it's our 4th year). WHIR, leave a link...any help would be appreciated, thanks!!!

I'd stand pat too. Lincecum is great but not as great as having both of those in a league with not much on the wire.

Help with mine?

I, too, would stand pat. Billingsley has been lights out as well and Bedard will be above average. I don't think Linecum will be that much better than Billingsley this year.

Thanks for helping with mine. Tough call. As far as keeping Lincecum, I would probably keep him over Phillips. Who's the best pitcher available on the wire? Is there a start or innings limit in your league?

Honestly? Eric Stults is the best SP available on the wire. And there is a minimum of 15 IP per week, but there are no limits. I am leaning 90% toward not making this deal, even though i am a HUGE Giants/Lincecum fan...

i would take the deal for lincecum. as much as it hurts to lose billingsley, you're getting the second best pitcher in fantasy baseball (arguably #1 in a dynasty league). besides, i just don't have much faith in bedard. he's had ONE good season in baltimore. that's it. and he was injured throughout most of last year. i know he's off to a good start, but i'm not quite convinced.

That is a lot for Lincecum - I think in a 12 team league, you have to think about what's available pitching wise and you have some pretty good pitching there...don't do anything..

Thanks for your help on mine
