Would you protest-veto this trade? *whir*

Postby aplviper » Thu Apr 23, 2009 10:27 pm

10 Team, 5x5, non-keeper league

Team A gets Tim Lincecum

Team B gets Edinson Volquez and Chris Davis (and drops Joe Crede)

I have received a protest in my league, and since I'm involved (I'm the commish), I am seeking outside council.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. If you could give a reason why, that would be great. Thanks.

As long as team A isnt bailing on their team cause they are in last place I never have a problem even with lopsided trades. Id ask team B what their thought process is. If its anything other then i dont care anymore then let it go through. Cause i could see if a team was overloaded on pitchers and needed more depth it might be plausible or maybe they are just that impatient with lincecum. I never saw a trade vetoable simple because team A is getting a better player then team B. Post some rosters to maybe clarify.

I don't see how to protest this. I would prefer the Volquez/Davis side. Lincecum is a top pitcher, despite his early struggles. Davis is a solid hitter, despite his early struggles. Lincecum is ranked much higher in a lot of rankings. I don't know which side would be considered to be getting the big advantage here...I just don't see it...

Volquez is a decent replacement for Lincecum....

I agree. I am not a person to veto a lopsided trade unless it is crazy. That trade the Lincecum owner could be getting a little impatient.

If you are getting overwhelming support to veto a trade do this. Ask both managers why they made the trade. If they give legitimate responses to why they made the trade and how it benefited their team then let the trade go, if they dont give a reason why then you can veto it...

Good Luck.

The basis for the trade is this: Lincecum is my favorite player, I have him on all of my teams, as well as being a great pitcher when he's on his game. Team B told me to make him an offer, so I did, and he accepted.

Honestly, in a shallow 10-teamer, this really should not be vetoed...and in other instances, unless there is obvious sign of collusion or a trade is just beyond justification and utterly lopsided, it should not be vetoed. I say let this trade through...i'd rather have the Voltron/CD side of the deal, but it's not THAT bad, considering it is a 10-teamer.

Absolutely not vetoable. Only a real pain in the neck would protest it.

Yeah, not vetoable. You could make arguments either way but in the end it is not a clear cut case of total disparity.

No problem with this trade. The other managers are just whining.

I don't see any problem with this trade. Linecum is a top pitcher. Volquez is solid and Davis is projected to hit 30 HRs. I don't see anyway you can veto this trade. It's not that unbalanced. And, this early in the season you have to a assume neither team is trying to help the other out.
