It absolutely drives me nuts that major league pitchers these days seem to have completely lost the art of bunting. It drives me nuts time and time again watching pitchers fail to lay down a bunt, usually eventually fouling out.

I don't care of they can't hit. I understand it. But bunting ought to be a simple fundamental skill. Too many pitchers have obviously stopped working on it long ago. These young kids should learn from guys like John Smoltz. That guy can hit, and takes pride in it.

Thanks you for allowing me this opportunity to get that off my chest.

Is there data saying that pitchers bunt worse today than yesteryear, or is this anecdotal evidence?

I would prefer to vent on pitchers wasting too many pitches................hey Kazmir, hows about getting through the 7th inning for once.........nah, you have 120 pitches in the 5th.............gg

I will take this opportunity to comment on how amazing Brewer pitchers have been at the plate so far this year. A .571 OPS not including the single by Bush today and almost flawless in SH situations so far though with Kendall up 8th they haven't had many.

How can you be so critical of pitchers when there is a significant portion of position players that are terrible bunters?

Position players should be asked to bunt about 1 or 2 times a season at most, so they should be terrible at it~. Unless you are a really bad player or an extreme ground ball hitter who is also extremely slow(lot of catchers come to mind here) you should not be bunting more than a couple times a season.

Bunting is stupid anyway. Why give away outs? You only have 27 in a game.
