His Morneau/Kershaw for my Ludwick/Wainwright? (WHIR)

Postby jweb2244 » Thu Apr 23, 2009 4:32 pm

I need a 1B and he needs an OF, but am not a fan of Morneau. Should I accept?

I like the Morneau/Kershaw side, especially if Kershaw is gonna be good all year...

this trade is very close to me.... Morneau is the best player here, but Ludwick has shown that he is for real...

Morneau is the best player but you are not exactly getting him cheap... and I like Wainwright over Kershaw myself.... I guess needs determine whether or not you do the deal because either way you do not gain much here

I think you do the trade. Morneau is the best player as stated already. And Kershaw is far off from Wainwright at all imo.

Help if you can.

I would do the deal personally, just without looking at the numbers it's a close deal, and if your need is a 1B, that should swing the edge in favor of doing the deal. From a numbers perspective, I like the Morneau side as well. Yes, Ludwick has proven himself as legit, but I think Morneau is the best player in the deal, and though he doesn't mash the 35+ HR's that some elite 1B do, his .300+ average with 25-30 HR's and plenty of RBI's should be plenty good enough to fill your 1B hole. I think Ludwick will hit more HR's, but I think his average this year will fall about 20 points short of Morneau's, and I also don't think it's out of the question that Morneau could hit 35 HR's if he turns some of his doubles back into HR's, I just think 25-30 is more likely if he's going to post a .300+ average. Breaking down the pitchers, I like Wainwright more, as he should be more consistant, but Kershaw should post a stellar final line. He'll likely be more inconsistant and post a great line one outting, then a dud the next, but if it all clicks (which it certainly could), his ceiling is way higher then Wainwrights given his through the roof K-rate. That's just my two cents, close deal, which is probably the hangup, it's always nice getting a slam dunk deal, but that said, I still like this deal for you a lot. Good luck!
