Jermaine Dye for Michael Young WHIR 100%

Postby Hit Factory » Thu Apr 23, 2009 10:38 am

I want to acquire Michael Young so I can get rid of Khalil Greene who is my current SS. I want to deal one of my outfielders, Jermaine Dye, I have Jack Cust and I will just use him as my 4th outfielder (he will hit 30 homers+) What do you guys think, is it a good trade, or should I deal one of my pitchers instead? As always WHIR 100%

You will prob lose about 40 fantasy points and .010 in BA if you do this deal . . . but SS is a scare position, so it evens out a bit more. I'd go ahead and do it. Young looks to be on the rebound and Greene's AVG will kill you.

I like the idea of the deal and I think that it makes a ton of sense, but I feel like you should be able to get a little more than Michael Young. It's not always a smart think to do, but I always try to get at least equal value in any deal that I make. It probably keeps me from best aligning my teams sometimes, but when injuries happen it's easier to fill the holes if you have deeper and more valuable talent to trade.

In short, do the deal but try to squeeze a little something else useful out of him.

I agree with you guys, Young is not equal value, just curious what SS would you suggest I target? It's such a hard position to fill, besides the top 3 (Reyes, Hanley, Rollins,) there is a huge dropoff.

Jeter, Furcal, or Stephen Drew are all slightly better than Young. But like the other guy said, maybe try and squeeze another SP out of him . . . or another OF . . .

I'm trying to deal Dye and Anibal Sanchez for Hunter Pence and Furcal, the other guy could use some pitching.

I like your last trade option, that might go through. Another option to think about is that Lugo is about to come of IR and will be playing the SS position until, at least , June.
