Can this worK? Fielder for Haren trade? whir

Postby lyons595 » Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:23 pm

I know this is a complicated question, but i appreciate any help.
Im trrying to land Haren or Peavy or Billingsly in this trade, in that order. Honestly I'd be happy with any of them.

It looks like he needs a 3B since Figgins is one dimentional and Gordon is out. I'd be willing to add in Youk to get Peavy or Haren. Stewart, Bonafacio, P Sabdoval, Reynolds and Lowell are FA I could grab to fill in at 3B.

My present offer to him (which has not been responded to) is Fielder for Haren straight-up.

I think it could work, but to be honest, I think your pitching is a bit suspect. I'd try and move Howard and your worst player (whomever you deem that to be) for Haren and either Harrang or Wainwright. I think they would both shore up your pitching significantly, and I think you would be fine with Cruz in the utility spot with Fielder at 1B. Just another thought, thanks for the help on mine.

I think there are a lot of options to somewhat replace Fielder's power. Is Mike Jacobs available? He's off to a hot start. How about Inge? He's 3B eligible and C, and according to sources he has changed his swing, so there's a chance he'll keep up a pretty good production level.

I agree with the previous post - your SP is a weakness currently, as you are relying on potential (hernandez, garza) and past his prime (johnson). Stabilize your pitching by getting two SPs for Fielder and a fringe player. Just make sure the fringe player comes from a position deep at FAs.

FOr example, if you move an OF, endy Chavez is available in most leagues, and you can always find a rotation OF that's hot.

Get the pitching.

You should be able to get Haren for Fielder, but Prince isn't a guy I'd attempt trading away once he turns it around.

The other guy could use an outfielder and I'd try to offer either for one of his top arms. Abreu for Billingsley or Haren fits nicely or Pence for Wainwright (plus a throw-in if you can get it) would be fine too.

I think it would work. I prefer Haren and Billingsley over Peavy. Peavy won't get that many wins. Just my opinion. Thanks for the help with mine.

Yes it can work. I think you should pretty much be able to get any pitcher you want for Prince.

I'm sure this would work for you. I honestly hate selling low on a guy, and Fielder is pretty low right now. Still, if you can get Haren for him, I'd be tempted to pull the trigger

thanks for the help with mine

I think this is about right. Cruz will be a solid #2 before the season is over, imo.

Thanks for the help.
