Trade a Closer to Land Miggy and Markakis?

Postby jmcampbe11 » Wed Apr 22, 2009 12:23 pm

GIVE - Hamilton, A.Gonzalez, and Percival (or Morrow)

GET - M.Cabrera and Markakis

Thoughts? This would leave me a little short in the closer dept, but is it worth it?

For context, my closers are - Broxton, Qualls, Morrow, Percival, (and possibly Ray if he ever replaces Sherrill).

Also, this is a 3 player keeper league. Right now my three keepers would be Sizemore, Hamilton and Longoria.

I would do the trade. Markakis is not much worse than Hamilton (I actually think he will have a better year this year). MCab is a top 5 player is baseball and is still very young. AGone is a good 1st but he is not MCab. Percival is a throw in. I would do this trade and not look back.

If you can get him to take Percival and not Morrow, absolutely take it. Cabrera is a monster and Markakis is a young guy who's playing great. I'm not completely sold on Hamilton, at least as a superstar, quite yet. He had a monster start, but cooled off considerably and hasn't really picked it back up. It sucks losing Gonzalez, but you're getting a nice return.

Take it man.

Ya, do it with Percival...he's toast anyway. Broxton and Qualls are actually both solid mid-level closers, so you'll be just fine!

Yeah, I'd take the M-Cab/Markakis side too. Percival is more or less a throw-in here.
