First Pick Strategy

Postby bronxxbomber » Fri Mar 12, 2004 3:19 pm

I have the 1st pick in a mixed 14 team Roto League. These are the same guys I've played with for the last 4 seasons and they all know there stuff. Any draft strategies I should follow. I already have an adapted LIMA plan that I've been using for the past 4 seasons. I'm just worried about having the top pick because you wait so long to draft again. What I do know is that ARod is mine ;-) .

I think that the long interval between picks isn't too much of a disadvantage, particularly if you're going LIMA. Unless, of course, adapted means either picking up one big ace, which might be tricky at pick #28, or stocking up on closers, in which case you might be forced to overpay a little bit.

I'm in a similar situation...I have the 1st pick in a 12 team Yahoo points league. I'm going with A-Rod as #1...unless I can be convinced to take Puljos. I'm wondering about my 2nd and 3rd round picks which are #'s 24 & 25. I'm thinking I need a thumper in the outfield and a good starting pitcher because of the long wait until picks # 4 & 5 (48&49). Any suggestions? Also what is LIMA?

In LIMA I basically pick mostly hitters and go cheap with pitching, drafting mostly Closers and RP.

I'm thinking I should get the best hitter next and a great SP after. I'm assuming someone along Hudson or Wood make it back to me.
